It is important that one should be familiar with the camera before teaching kids on how to use it.
Be sure to be familiarize the instructions by reading the manual of the camera first and practice by taking some test pictures.
Show the children how to control and use the basic controls of the camera and what is the right way to hold it while taking a picture. Make sure that they keep in mind not to touch the lens and not to place a finger in front of the flash.
Digital cameras are very fragile and can be easily damaged when dropped. For those cameras that have lenses that can be extended are the most fragile. Children should be informed to never to touch any part of the lens and to be careful and make sure that they turn the camera off and retract the lens when they are not taking pictures.
Take note that most viewing screens of digital cameras can easily be scratched. Children should always be warned about protecting the screens of cameras by not placing the equipment’s screen side on a hard surface such as a table.
When children are already familiar with the camera’s basic function and basic controls, try to teach them how to focus on a subject, hold the camera carefully and squeeze, not poke the shutter button to create a photograph. It is very important for kids to realize that they should only move the shutter button and not the whole camera. Remember that some digital cameras and some films have a view finder, this is the tiny window you look through to focus on the subject you want to photograph. Some digital cameras and camera phones have a display screen to view and is located at the back of the camera.
Teach the children that their subject should be well lit whenever possible. A person with a shaded face with not be clearly visible as well as those persons who are illuminated by artificial light or by the sun. You have to explain that a camera’s flash is a great way to brighten correctly a shaded or dark lit face.
It is always a fact that children will place a camera too close on the subject that they wish to photograph. The result image is fuzzy, unusable and unrecognizable. Disposable cameras are never suitable for taking close-up images. Some camera phones and point-and-shoot cameras can be placed six inches or lesser from an object to provide high quality and good pictures.
Children should always learn that keeping the camera’s lens is very important. Show them what the correct way to remove lint, fingerprints and smudges by using lens paper. Never use facial tissue because it has chemicals in paper that can destroy the equipment.
Practice is always important when it comes to learning to make good quality and prize winning photographs. Children will learn to create good photographs if the experiment and practice taking pictures.
The most important lesson to teach children is to be courteous and patient when they use a camera. They should never take a photograph of a person without asking permission. They should be very careful when capturing photos through balconies, windows, stairways, and other hazardous objects. Hawaii wedding photographer
