Floral Design molds the flower arrangement in a more lively and appealing way. There are many countries which show their uniqueness in the field of flower arrangement. One very prominent kind of this style is the Ikebana. Ikebana is a floral design style that started off from Japan which is known for its outward appearance and plainness. It came from the word kado which means “way of flowers” and this style aims to give personal enjoyment to ikebana artists. Discipline and balance of nature and humanity are being joined together in this piece of art.

During the early times, Ikebana is believed to be practiced as a form of Buddhist ritual where flowers are being offered to the spirits of the dead people. This is traced during the 6th century when Buddhism is being launch in Japan. They give flowers in honor of Buddha and offer such pieces on the altar. Since then, Ikebana became a part of the Japanese culture and influenced the society itself. The first school who teaches Ikebana was discovered in the beginning of 7th century. Even nowadays, there are about 3,000 Ikebana schools in Japan and a lot more in the United States and other countries as well. Hawaii photo

Ikebana usually highlights the other part of a plant, like leaves and stem which features the line, form and shape of a certain plant. This art mainly outline three major points primarily the twigs which signifies earth, man and heaven. Some says that those points stand for moon, earth and sun. Due to this the Japanese uplift their appreciation with the nature. They believe that they should always have a certain link to their natural environment. You may even see people who lives at the metropolis, always manage to have a little garden at their place. This thought promotes relaxation on a person’s body, mind and inner soul.

For the Japanese people each type of flower represents an individual aspect. For example, let’s try the plum blossoms. Plum blossoms are a mirror of age and youth which means happiness of youth can be renewed. The lotus flower on the other hand is an image of perfection, truth and immortality. The peony is believed to be a symbol of wealth and prosperity while the morning glory is a mark of being a mortal but such beauty is very memorable. There is the chrysanthemum which represents longevity of life. All these things put distinct image on the Japanese mind and quite influence their daily lives.

Since these beliefs have left marks on the Japanese culture, no wonder many Japanese engage in learning the art of Ikebana. There may not be evidences that support the link of flower in a person’s life, career and health; we can always consider that nature is the best gift God has given us. It is our pride and honor to mold them in a more pleasant presentation in the world that we live in. by Hawaii florist and oahu florist

Totem poles are significant carvings or sculptures made from cedar trees which are widely grown in the forest of Pacific Northwest. Giant cedar trees in the Pacific Northwest makes great art pieces. “Totem” originated from the word odoodem which means “his totem or his kinship”. Totem is a creature usually an animal or other ordinary character that looks after and supports a particular group of people or clan. Totemism is a religious conviction which participates in the 19th and early part of 20th century. This belief shows that having one or two totems promotes qualities or elements which a certain clan is longing to learn or follow. Some says that totem poles are not really a structure to be worshipped. Christian missionaries locally just assumed that a certain clan is an association of idol worshippers because they have seen such similarity in line with Shamanism which have an occult practice. Actually totemism are not only bound to Native American Indians only but parallel belief have been discovered in Eastern and Western Europe, Australia, Africa and even in the Arctic Polar section.

Until now, it is still complicated to map out the history of totem poles with their carvers. Usually historians use the design of a certain totem pole in concluding what period it was created. They believe that certain totem poles are carved until the end of 19th century while some have stood for 50-60 years only. But in Royal BC Museum you may find some examples of totem pole which exist even before 1800 echoed by European explorers that proves it exist before 1800, quite small and minority in number. Apparently, totem pole carvings weaken due to the importation or iron and steel tools which greatly produce wooden goods carvings.

There are a wide variety of totem pole designs; it includes links about clan ancestry, recognizable legends and remarkable events. There are poles which are created to commemorate a certain cultural belief while others are for artistic fulfillment. Some totem poles are designed for mortuary aspect. Some character on the poles remind symbols concerning murders, debts and other horrible events that Indians preferred to left unspoken. But there are house front pole which brings success and luck at some families.

There are also different types of totem poles; one is the indoor house pole, this hold the roof and bears the symbol of the clan. Another type is the house front pole which is located at the main entrance of a house. Third is the heraldic pole, which also stands at the front portion of the house which signifies the history of the family. Forth one is the burial poles that hold the story of the deceased person, then there are ridicule poles that brings shame to debtors and finally the pot latch poles which are specially carved by the Haida to honor festivities.

Whether or not it brings luck or anything on a person’s life, it is no doubt that it can be considered to be as an awesome work of art. By Hawaii vacation and Hawaii art

Their subject? No, it is not landscapes, still life or people but food. Yes. You read it right. Food. Food photography that is.

Mouth watering food, sultry dishes, and appetizing delicacies. Who could imagine that people will go venture to new horizon such as food photography. Who could resist looking at tempting foods enough to feed your mind? We see their work on covers of the magazines and cookbooks

Hawaii wedding photographer

or invent in the restaurants’ web page. It is said to be a form of still life photography, which means the photographer treats the food as if it is still life. Now I am wondering, they hire professional photographers to take pictures of food? How cool can it be? And do they get to taste the food they took picture of?

Chefs collaborate with the photographer, food stylist, and other staff so that the food will have a dramatic effect. With fancy lightings, a little drizzle of sauce over here and a sprinkle of spices over there and BOOM! Works of art that will make even the gods of Olympus drool. Magnifico!

Props? Normal household tools like table linens, silverware, vases, glasses and even the plate itself can help your shots become glamorous. The food itself should be symmetrical with your background. It must jive with the theme of the picture itself.

Talking about food, they use food photography as a means of advertising. And most of the foods they advertise are the ones that are sold more that we could chew. The bill does not only consist of the main course itself, but the photographer’s fee as well. They sometimes use dummy food (such as mashed potatoes for ice creams,). This kind of photography takes time, money, effort and a lot of patience.

The photographer does not consider anything as the major or minor shot in food photography. If in conventional photography, elements are essential, it is no different in food photography. All is fair in shots and lights.

One can always be a food photographer in their own way. Just grab a dish, design it to perfection, take a camera and click your heart away. If you are still not happy with your work and you want to brag about post in your blog account or in your online community. Who knows? Your food photo might start a new trend. Your friends might ask for your “professional tips”. And maybe in the near future, you will see yourself in the food photography business as well.

They say we eat with our eyes and presentation is the key in attaining a good food photo. Sometimes, the food photo is the center of the article itself. Readers tend to look at the picture rather than reading the article itself. But the photographers, especially the chef should remember that great food does not come only in packaging, the taste is what completes the whole advertisement. Article feature by Kauai weddings

However, there was black and white photography. The first colored magazines were not really all colorful. There were some photos that were in full color but the rest were all in black and white.

Even in the early years, people did not opt to use colorful picture. They were satisfied with just using a black and white film. Why? This is because printing and processing in color was really expensive. More expensive than using black and white film. The worst part of it is the quality of the colored images was often poor because majority of it was done in low cost laboratories by amateurs.

Our world today is full of colorful images. Even photos in the newspaper are already considered in pretty good quality. Full color images are present everywhere! Magazines, newspapers, ads and even in the Internet! And proud to say, they look crisp and very well balanced!

For photo enthusiasts, thanks to the birth of digital cameras that produce high quality photos with color images far better than before. For photo experts and for those whose livelihood depends on photography, the age of digital cameras is considered a dream come true to them. When the age of full color images came into the scene, the black and white photo plummeted. This is because manufacturers were producing more and more high quality of colored films and very affordable prices. This came to a point where it is hard to buy black and white films.

The result was devastating. Black and white photography vanished for a while.

For the past few years, black and white photography became something that is hard to do and tough to process. This is the reason why people nowadays are bringing color again to black and white photography. When it comes to print advertising, black and white photography is a must. Black and white photography feels real and fresh. Black and white photography enthusiasts also made ways to make this type of photography easy to manipulate.

Black and white photography is definitely back! These days, modern wedding request photographers to use black and white films for their weddings. This is because black and white photography creates a dramatic image. This type of photography is still a great way to learn about photography because you will learn how a film plays with light. This is why photography experts and teachers never stopped in teaching beginners on how to capture winning photos using black and white photography.

The main reason is that black and white photography is still beautiful and this is the main reason why it was brought back.

Black and white photography was mostly used for people photography. It is a fact that black and white photography is timeless. If you are someone who is aspiring to become a black and white photographer, then you should try to read the life about Ansel Adams. He is considered as the father of black and white photography. You can definitely learn a lot from him.

Our world today is a place where “convenience” is a must and a part of our daily living. These days digital cameras are available in almost all kinds of gadgets and is considered as the most important invention since the camera obscura. Indeed, nowadays digital cameras are considered to be a fast growing business when it comes to the world of digital market.

However, most photos taken by digital cameras end up in poor quality. The main reason behind this is because of poor technique in photography and the quality of the camera itself. On the other hand, this should not stop you from creating great photos. Just read on and learn some of the few tips to aid you in improving your phone photos.

Always be sure that you light your target subject well. A well lighted subject will create a clearer image. Try to take pictures outdoors or you can turn the lights on. By turning the lights on, it will add light and make your subject more vibrant. Nevertheless you still have to learn that artificial light will affect the quality of your shots, you might consider to experiment first with white balance to make sure you have the appropriate exposure.

When you use a digital camera, make sure that you get close to your subject. The most common mistakes people commit when using digital cameras is that the end result is really blurry and unrecognizable. Take note that digital cameras have the tendency to create poor quality images because of its low resolution or poor photography technique. You can try filling up your view finder with your subject instead of zooming or editing it. Be careful because getting too close can cause distortion and focal issues.

Make sure your subject doesn’t move around. When it comes to digital photography, for you to create a visible and clearer photo, your camera has to be steady. Especially in low lighting situations wherein the camera will choose to use long shutter speeds because of the lack of light. One trick is to lean your camera against an object when you are capturing the photo. Remember that digital cameras have tendency to “shutter lag”. Shutter lag means that you have to hold the camera a little longer to ensure that it does not take the shot while you are bringing the camera down.

Try to take loads of photos and don’t be scared to experiment. One advantage of digital photography is their capability to take as many shots as you want without about films. Digital cameras enable you to experiment with a wide variety of angles, modes and you can delete those that you think are not needed. Digital photography are best to use when it comes to experimenting.

Capturing great photos is not as difficult as you may think. There are secrets and a few tricks that you must know inorder to create a winning photograph. One trick you should learn is that it takes an amount of patience for you to be able to capture good photographs. For you to be able to take great photos, these are some tips that could help you out.

But because of our artistically endowed minds, reminiscing about life is made easy, fun and interesting.

Imagine a world without pictures. We would not be able to know things from the past if not with all our parent’s old pictures, posters and videos. Notice how bold and fearless their pictures in newspapers and magazines have become nowadays. The fiercer the picture, the more stories it can tell. And how about those scandalous pictures in the tabloids? They may be decent but there will always be the “interpretation by the masses”. For example, when a certain celebrity gained or lose weight, public will assume that they are either pregnant or using drugs. Either way that’s how pictures work, play with people’s imagination. If there is one exciting thing about going to school, it is what we call “picture taking day”. The students, in all levels will prep-up, wear their nicest dress or uniforms and put on their best smile. All for the joys and thrills of posing and smiling for less than fifteen minutes. Class reunions are made more exciting with these pictures used as reference on how they looked like, who they were and who they used to go out with. Parents keep all their children’s baby pictures in fancy photo albums, piled up under the center tables, waiting for them to be discovered by visitors. It is also the same reason why most teenagers would not like to invite their friends and classmates to come over in fear of being embarrassed by their parents (especially the mom) by showing their adorable and (most of the time) embarrassing pictures. And in books, notice how children are encouraged to read books with pictures rather than plain text? Photos help our imagination explore new horizons beyond what our eyes can see.

Just by looking at photographs we remember a lot of things that might have been forgotten. In a piece of paper, we reminisce our joys and pains in life, our failures and triumphs. We see different people with different reactions when they see a picture. Comments like “yeah! I remember’ or “so that’s how they looked like” gives us a feeling of satisfaction knowing that they were able to remember what they seemed to forget.

Amazing how normal plants, flowers, animals, spilled milk, dead leaf, or even the innocent by stander on the street tell their own story with photography. If only pictures move, it would be easier for us, the viewers to feel and understand the real message of each photo we take or the ones we receive from relatives and friends abroad.

No matter how we take care of our pictures, it will eventually fade, or even damaged in the future. But for as long as we could treasure our precious memories not only in photos but in our hearts as well in our minds, the legacy lives on from generation to generation.

When it comes to capturing great flower photos, you don’t have to be an expert on photography just to create winning images. Whatever reason you may have for taking flower photos or what kind of flower you prefer, it would be best to learn some basics first before you go out and snap pictures all day.

Lighting effect for Flowers – People think that the best time of the day to capture flower photos is during midday, where the sun’s light is the brightest. What people doesn’t know is that this is the worst time of the day to take photos because of the sun’s exposure and will just wash out the photo and create harsh shadows. The best time to take flower photos is when there is an overcast. This is best achieved during sunrise or sunset when the sun’s light is not overpowering. It would create a saturated color in colors.

Experiment with the angles – For you to have a unique and winning flower pictures, try to experiment with the angles by moving around. Never be satisfied with just one camera view. You can use a ladder to shoot your subject downwards. Try to get close to the flower and focus on it’s petal or you can try a bird’s eye view. Experiment with distances.

Focus – Make sure that when you capture photos, you have a focal point. It can be a cluster of flower of just the flower’s vibrant colored petal. Always pay attention to your view finder . Watch out for distractions or unnecessary things or lines in the background. Remove all distractions that will cause your attention to move away from the subject.

Keep it Still – A shaky hand can ruin a potentially extravagant flower photo. You might think that your hand is steady but then you will be surprised that you don’t get good quality pictures because of your shaky hand. If you really cannot avoid your shaky hand then it might be best if you use a tripod.

Spice up your Flower – You can always find unique ways to create a winning flower photo. Try to use dangling vines to create a frame to your flower or try to use insects to make your flower photo unique and interesting.

Flower Photography is considered as one of the most common forms of photography. This is because flowers are considered as nature’s most beautiful gift here on earth. You can take photos of flowers that are growing in the wild, in gardens or in greenhouses. You can even take photos of flower arrangements or in a studio setting.

You can photograph flowers in unusual angles, indoors or outdoors. Remember that the best time to take flower photos is during early morning or late in the afternoon. You can also try to use warm filters to create a soft and inviting mood. Try to add water droplets to give it a dewy effect. Try to experiment when it comes to taking photos. The most important thing of all is to practice all the time! You Hawaii photographer

However, most photos taken by camera phones end up in poor quality. The reason behind this is because of poor technique in photography and the quality of the camera itself. On the other hand, this should not stop you from creating great photos. Just read on and learn some of the few tips to aid you in improving your phone photos.

Always be sure that you light your target subject well. A well lighted subject will create a clearer image. Try to take pictures outdoors or you can turn the lights on. By turning the lights on, it will ad light and make your subject more vibrant. Nevertheless you still have to learn that artificial light will affect the quality of your shots, you might consider to experiment first with white balance to make sure you have the appropriate exposure.

When you use a camera phone, make sure that you get close to your subject. The most common mistakes people commit when using camera phones is that the end result is really small and unrecognizable. Take note that camera phones have the tendency to create small images because of its low resolution. You can try filling up your view finder with your subject instead of zooming or editing it. Be careful because getting too close can cause distortion and focal issues.

Make sure your subject doesn’t move around. When it comes to digital photography, for you to create a visible and clearer photo, you phone has to be steady. Especially in low lighting situations wherein the camera will choose to use long shutter speeds because of the lack of light. One trick is to lean your camera against an object when you are capturing the photo. Remember that camera phones have tendencie to “shutter lag”. Shutter lag means that you have to hold the phone a little longer to ensure that it does not take the shot while you are bringing the phone down.

Try to take loads of photos and don’t be scared to experiment. One advantage of digital photography is their capability to take as many shots as you want without about films. Camera phones enable you to experiment with a wide variety of angles, modes and you can delete those that you think are not needed. Digital photography are best to use when it comes to experimenting.

Make sure to keep camera phones clean. One challenge with camera phones is to keep them well maintained and clean. Camera phones are usually kept in bags or pockets and are exposed to all different conditions. If they get dirty, they are likely to be destroyed easily. You should also avoid holding your camera phone to keep it fingerprint free.

Take your car to the car wash. Of course if you want to take photos of your car, you want your car to be presentable. People would rather look at pictures of clean car rather than dirty one. The best way to clean your car is to let the experts do the washing or you can definitely take an extra time to wash the car, tires, windows and ofcourse dry it afterwards. Always make sure that there are no visible water spots. Making sure your car is clean is the first task that you should do.

Choosing where to capture your car. The setting of where to take your car’s photo is a very important thing to consider for this will affect on the final result of the image. Make sure that you find a location that will make your car the focal point or will stand out. Imagine a green car with a red background. It would look like something a character from Dr. Seuss and if you place a white car with a light background, it would be lost. A dramatic setting would surelymake your car great and this would create a dramatic photo.

Make sure that you avoid all distractions. If you are to take pictures of your car, makle sure that you weed out all distractions around your subject. Distractions are things that takes away your attention from your car. It may be a post, leaves, trash bins, and people.

You also have to avoid those unconventional angles. Try to experiment with angles. You don’t have to take photos just from an eye level. Remember that most photos are results from a trial and error method. Try to experiment by capturing photos of your car at low levels. This can create an exaggerate style of proportion and will surely make your car unique and impressive. You can use tools in your closet like a step ladder to capture you car’s photo. Experts call this technique as a bird’s eye view.

When you use wide lenses or if you are to zoom the camera’s lens to its maximum capability, you can create impressive photos. Try to get as close as you can and try to use wide angle cameras and try to experiment with a different point of view. Rememeber that you can play with different angles. A subject that is far from the camera will definitely look small while the subject that is close to the camera will definitely look larger.

The final step is to remember that when taking car photos, there are no rules. Best photos are a result of experimenting.
